Taylor Swift honored Carole King at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony

Taylor Swift honored Carole King at her second entry at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Taylor Swift opened the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Awards by performing an elegant synth-pop version of "Will You Love Me Tomorrow", a song first written and performed by Carole King, who became a member this year Hall of Fame.

The truth is that the song sounded like it came straight from Swift's "1989" album, which walked slowly on stage, letting the music and lyrics overwhelm it. Her performance was melancholy and full of admiration and clearly showed that she grew up listening to Carole King music.

Keeping up with the formal tone of the evening, Taylor Swift wore a black, lacy bodysuit with sparse glitter touches and the corresponding bright eye shadow.

Taylor Swift looked excited as she sang the song and smiled broadly after the first chorus as the audience cheered.

Carole King could not hide her emotion. The camera spotted her wiping her tears as the song came to an end.

Although Taylor Swift has never adapted the song before, the two artists have crossed paths in the past. At the 2019 American Music Awards, King presented Swift with the Artist of the Decade Award and praised her flexibility as a musician.

Taylor Swift also gave a lengthy speech on the inclusion of Carole King in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the 2021 class in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, October 30, describing her work as a "precious heirloom."

"Her songs speak to the true and sincere feelings that everyone has felt, feels today or hopes to feel one day. So it is right for them to be passed on as precious heirlooms from parents to children, from older siblings to younger ones and from lovers to each other. These songs come to you from somewhere else, from a loved one, a friend, the radio. And then, suddenly, it's partly yours, "said the pop star, among others.

"Carole taught artists like me that it's worth the work and struggle it takes to get your story heard. She created the purest works of love, power and purification, while touring the politics of an era that left no room for the idea of a female genius. Slowly but surely, Carole King worked and worked until she created the space. "And it will be hers forever," he stressed.

After thanking Taylor Swift for continuing to "carry the torch" and calling her "her professional granddaughter", Carole King paid tribute to the late lyricist, collaborator and ex-husband Gerry Goffin and other collaborators and supporters, such as to the producer of the album "Tapestry", Lou Adler and James Taylor, as well as to her musicians, managers and others.

"I keep hearing it, so I have to try to make it my property, that today's singers and songwriters stand on my shoulder," said Carole King.

"Let's not forget that they also stand on the shoulders of the first woman to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. "May Aretha Franklin rest in power," he added, to the overwhelming applause of the arena audience.

This is the second time Carole King has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She was first inducted into the non-performing category in 1990 alongside Gerry Goffin.

She is the third woman (after Stevie Nicks and Tina Turner) to have twice been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the first woman to enter the pantheon both as a performer and creator.
