The Britpop anthem surpasses “Wonderwall” as the band’s most-played song in Britain—and proves Oasis still rule the soundscape.
It’s official: Don’t Look Back In Anger has been crowned the most-played Oasis song of the 21st century across UK radio and television. According to newly released stats from music licensing giant PPL, the timeless track has outshone even Wonderwall in terms of airplay, cementing its status as a cultural landmark that continues to resonate nearly 30 years after its release.
The data, which reflects airplay from 2000 to today, shows that Oasis songs have amassed an astonishing seven years’ worth of continuous UK radio and TV rotation. That’s an average of 120 plays per day—an impressive feat for a band that disbanded in 2009 yet remains a staple of British music culture.
While Wonderwall comes in at No. 2, the rest of the top five includes She’s Electric, Roll With It, and Little By Little. Unsurprisingly, many of these hits are pulled from the legendary (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year—proving the album’s enduring influence on both fans and radio programmers.

This resurgence in airplay isn’t happening in a vacuum. Oasis’ surprise reunion shows in Cardiff earlier this year received five-star reviews and reignited Britpop nostalgia across the country. With over a million fans expected at their upcoming Manchester and UK tour dates, the Gallagher brothers have reminded the world that their music isn’t just timeless—it’s generational.
Peter Leathem, CEO of PPL, reflected on the band’s legacy: “Oasis are one of the most defining acts of the past few decades. They ruled the ’90s and early 2000s, but their songs continue to inspire listeners of all ages. This list is a perfect reminder of their lasting impact—especially as they gear up for a new tour.”
Since forming in Manchester in 1991, Oasis have sold over 70 million records worldwide. Every studio album they released between 1997 and 2008 hit No. 1 on the UK charts, and their influence on Britpop transformed them from hometown heroes to global icons.
Adding to the excitement is the upcoming deluxe reissue of (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, due out October 3, 2025, via Big Brother Recordings. The anniversary edition will feature acoustic renditions of fan favorites like Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova, promising to reignite love for an album already etched into the DNA of British music history.
From classic radio staples to sold-out arenas, Oasis have proven once again that their sound remains as relevant and electrifying in 2025 as it was in the ’90s. And if Don’t Look Back In Anger taught us anything, it’s that some anthems are truly built to last forever.
