Katy Perry has revealed she is leaving American Idol after seven seasons.
The Teenage Dream singer revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night that the upcoming season of the singing competition will be her last.
"This fall, this September, I'm going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio. It's really exciting. It's a big deal for people all over the world, especially for my Brazilian fans," she told the host. "So I think this will probably be my last season for Idol."
She added, "I love Idol so much. It's connected me with the heart of America but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat."

The Thai rapper/singer will be credited under her given name, Lalisa Manobal, in Mike White's comedy-drama series, which is set to begin shooting in and around Koh Samui, Phuket and Bangkok in Thailand this month, according to Variety.
While the exact plot of the season is being kept under wraps, it will once again follow a group of guests and employees at a White Lotus resort.

Taylor Swift's lawyer has sent a cease-and-desist letter to a student in a bid to stop him from tracking her private jet.
The pop superstar's lawyer threatened legal action against Florida university student Jack Sweeney in December to stop him from sharing information about her private jet on his social media accounts, which log the movements of aircraft owned by public figures.
