Alesso and Katy Perry released the music video for their new single "When I'm Gone" last week.
During the video, Katy Perry performs a complex choreography, while making a series of extremely sexy appearances and Alesso says that it is worth receiving all the praise that she managed to successfully meet the requirements.
"Dance music is what I do, so I like to dance to music videos and it went great, it worked so hard for that," the Swedish DJ and music producer told ABC Audio.
"I had a small role and I made a small appearance, which was fun. But she is definitely the protagonist in the video. "It's very important that she made this appearance after a baby, so I'm very grateful and I have a lot of respect for her," she said of Katy Perry, who had her first child in August 2020.
The music video for "When I'm Gone" premiered on ESPN during the halftime final of the United States College Football Championship.
Alesso commented that the way the video premiered made a huge impression.
"The reaction was incredible. Obviously, it's a huge deal. The impact of these games and how many people are watching them is incredible. "And so it was a huge honor and it was just so much fun to be a part of it in a small way," he said.
Katy Perry and Alesso first started working on "When I'm Gone" more than a year ago, when the pop star realized it would be a great song for her recently launched Las Vegas appearances.
"There was a very good atmosphere when we recorded the song and it was a fun process for both of us. "We were really excited," Alesso recalled. "It's been a while since you heard a song like this with a big chorus and a big club beat," he added.
"So yes, so far the support is amazing," continued Alesso, who "definitely" intends to watch Katy Perry perform next time they both meet in Las Vegas.
