Maluma - Medallo City

Maluma pays tribute to his hometown of Medellin, Colombia through his new music video.

A few days after the video of "Cielo a un Diablo", the 26-year-old singer brings to the screens another song from the album "Papi Juancho", which was released by Sony Music Latin last August.

"Medallo City" was an unexpected addition to the "Papi Juancho" album.

Maluma describes the song's history: "We did the last song, but after one night, it was about 2 after midnight, I was with Rude Boyz and we were listening to music by a Medellin musician, Teo Grajales.

"He is from Envigado, (the neighborhood) where I am from. He makes his music all his life, but he is more underground. He does hip-hop but with more salsa. And I really identified with his music. "I love hip-hop but I also like salsa, it was the perfect combination," he said in an interview with Billboard.

Kevin (of Rude Boyz) called him and said, "Hi, Maluma wants to do a song." At first he thought it was a joke. "But the next day, he sent us the song and the ideas and we added a few things," he explained.

The music video for "Medallo City", which was shot in Medellin, Colombia, begins with Maluma at the top of a city building and continues with the singer guiding the spectators through the streets of the homeland that give him life. All, of course, with a smile on his face.

After Maluma thanks the audience and sends a message of strength at the end of the song, the music video concludes with photos of Colombians who have been distinguished for their talent, altruism and courage. Among them a 3D animation creator, a programmer, a creator of applications with mobility problems, a mother who defeated cancer and others.
