Shawn Mendes reveals the winter music video for his new single "It'll Be Okay".
The tender ballad, which was revealed in the aftermath of the separation of Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello after more than two years of relationship, finally gained an image on Thursday (January 13), a month and a half after its release in early December.
"It'll Be Okay" delves into the sincere feelings after the end of a relationship, with the protagonist of the song reassuring both himself and his ex-lover that "everything will be fine".
The music video for "It'll Be Okay" was shot in Toronto, Canada and directed by Jay Martin, who has also edited the videos for the songs "Stitches", "Mercy" and "There's Nothing Holdin 'Me Back" of Shawn Mendes.
The camera follows the 23-year-old singer as he walks slowly, on a snowy night, in the streets of his hometown, singing the lyrics, without any other person around to hear his grief.
"If the future we dreamed of goes out in the dark / I will love you anyway," sings Shawn Mendes as he slows his pace in a dimly lit alley.
"It'll Be Okay" is Shawn Mendes' first solo song since "Wonder" which was released in December 2020 and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200.
Last August, Shawn Mendes joined forces with Puerto Rican music producer Tainy in the single "Summer Of Love", which was nominated for the Summer Song at the MTV Video Music Awards 2021.
